Paint Correction is an Intricate and Important Process

Comprehensive Exterior Detailing

We begin with a thorough exterior detailing to remove any bug splatters, bird droppings, dried rainwater, and other environmental contaminants. A detailed vehicle means that our meticulous paint correction team can identify anything that is a paint defect needing to be addressed. Our exterior detailing process involves a two-bucket hand wash with non-abrasive microfiber towels followed by a clay bar decontamination that removes any microscopic, residual contamination. Even before the paint correction, your ride will be looking like new with our expert exterior detailing services!

Inspection and Evaluation

After exterior detailing removes all contaminants from the surface of the vehicle, every defect that exists on your paintwork, such as swirl marks, oxidation, etching, light to moderate scratching, and more, become fully visible to our pro auto paint correction team. No defect will be able to hide or go unnoticed! Once each paint defect is identified, our team creates a strategy on how to address each defect and suggests one of our pro paint enhancement packages to provide you with the surface aesthetic you have been missing.

The Cutting Process

The core of the paint correction process at Stokes Auto Spa is the cutting and polishing efforts our trained team puts forth. Using a lightly abrasive cutting compound and machine polisher, we shave away a thin layer of clear coat in the areas where spider webbing, swirl marks, stains, and other discrepancies are. This evens out your vehicle’s clear coat and creates an incredibly smooth surface. All defects, discrepancies, stains, and oxidation will finally be a thing of the past!

Final Buffing and Polishing

Our final stage performed by the expert paint enhancement team at Stokes Auto Spa is a final buffing and polishing. We remove any remaining paint discrepancies with a non-abrasive polish and finishing pad to give you a full automotive aesthetic improvement. With the paint’s new unmatched surface depth, color richness improvement, and candy-like shine, you will hardly recognize your vehicle when we are through!

Myths About Our Paint Correction Services - Stokes Auto Spa

Myth 1: Paint correction removes a significant amount of clear coat

While it is true that some of the clear coat is removed during paint correction, it is only an EXTREMELY thin layer. At Stokes Auto Spa, our top-tier paint correction crew uses cutting edge techniques and precise compounds to shave off a thin layer of clear coat, removing any swirl marks, nicks, or light scratches that exist in that surface area. This provides you with a smooth and even paint surface and more clarity than was there prior. The long-term integrity of the paint remains intact, as does the bulk of your clear coat.

Myth 2: I can have paint correction completed as much as I want

You want to be careful with how often you have paint enhancement services done on one vehicle. Paint correction does remove a very THIN layer of clear coat as mentioned above, designed to remove discrepancies and give you a smooth surface. But remember: each time your vehicle has paint correction and polishing done, another amount of clear coat is removed. Having paint correction completed too often means that more and more clear coat gets abraded away, and eventually there will be less left to protect the actual paint underneath. To better protect your paint finish after a paint correction, consider upgrading to one of our PPF packages.

Myth 3: Paint correction eliminates ALL imperfections

Paint correction is a miraculous process that can eliminate many surface imperfections such as swirl marks, oxidation, and light to moderate scratching to make your ride look like new again. However, it cannot fix everything. Some deep scratches pierce through the thick layer of clear coat and even break into the paint itself. Our paint correction technicians cannot rectify deep gouges in your clear coat that have broken through to the paint.
